I have been enjoying listening to the new U2 album as I have been driving around recently. A recent post from Brian Draper of the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity (www.licc.org.uk) taken exclusively from the lyrics in song order highlighted the depth of thought and longing in this album:

‘I was born to sing for you/ I didn’t have a choice but/ to lift you up and sing whatever song you wanted me to/ I give you back my voice/ From the womb my first cry/ It was a joyful noise/ Justified till we die/ you and I will magnify/the Magnificent./Magnificent./

I’ve been in every black hole/At the altar of the dark star/My body’s now a begging bowl/ begging to get back/To my heart, to the rhythm of my soul/To the rhythm of my unconsciousness/To the rhythm that yearns to be released from control/

Hear me, cease to speak that I may speak.

Shush now.

Spring us upon us and it's time to spend some time ensuring that the church grounds and buildings look at their best so we have organised two work days on Saturday 18th and Saturday 25th April

Work golvesWe plan to tidy up the grounds and carry out some essential internal and external maintenance and repairs. The Sanctuary is also looking forward to some TLC (tender loving care), with much polishing of wood, cleaning of windows and tidying of chairs to be done.

Each day will kick off at 9am and run through to mid afternoon with a midday break. It's appreciated that not everyone will be available for the whole period but you can come along for all or part of each day. Coffee and Tea will be available, but please bring a packed lunch.

This is an important part of our service within the church and all help will be gratefully appreciated.
