Children's Church
Children are important to God and are therefore important to us at IBC. Children's Church provides a safe and fun learning environment for children aged between 4 and 12.
Â
The aim of Children's Church is to provide a safe and fun learning environment where children can be introduced to the Christian faith, learn about the bible, experience God's grace and love and grow in their faith. We also encourage the children to take part in our family services enabling time for them to interact with the adult congregation.
Children's Church takes place during the 11am Service and caters for children aged between 4 and 12. (Pre-school to final year of Primary School/Middle School)
The children leave the 11am service around 11:15 and their programme starts with them meeting altogether for a time of Praise & Prayer. Included in this session are songs, the theme of the day, the month's memory verse and prayers.
We then split into our groups for more in depth and age related activities and challenges to apply what they have been learning. Currently we are using Scripture Union's Light resources which provide a excellent range of lessons specifically aimed at our 2 age groups. They have also written and produced music albums with songs tailored to the themes we are looking at.
- SPLASH- Preschool to P3, ages 4-8
- XSTREAM- P4-P7, ages 8-12
We also have an incentive programme which encourages children to bring their bibles to church, learn a monthly memory verse and take part in the Praise & Prayer session. We encourage the children to continue learning and reading their bible during the week with take-away bible cards and sheets and to share their learning with their family.
The children also support a child through their offerings. Presently we are supporting a boy called Roiland from the Philippines organised through the charity Compassion UK.
Children's Church also provides training opportunities for adults and young people in teaching, music, leading and administration. All children's church leaders and helpers have been disclosure checked by Disclosure Scotland.
We hope to build, edify and encourage the whole church family through this ministry.
